Barbra Breaks House Record in Zurich

from BarbraStreisand.com

Barbra Streisand tonight continued her record breaking US Tour success by shattering the concert house record at Zurich’s Hallenstadion as she kicked off her European Tour. This is her first ever tour of the continent and is the most anticipated summer event which consists of ten performances.

Thousands of fans filled the arena to hear Streisand perform classic songs from her unique repertoire such as "Evergreen", "People", "The Way We Were" and "Don't Rain on My Parade".

Accompanying Streisand was a stunning 58 piece orchestra culled from the best Broadway musicians. Also joining her onstage for a few select numbers were four of Broadway's popular leading men, Hugh Panaro, Sean McDermott, Michael Arden and Peter Lockyer.

Designated proceeds in support of philanthropic initiatives will be distributed through The Streisand Foundation. The Foundation will distribute funds to organizations within Europe that support causes Streisand cares deeply about including environmental, education and women's health initiatives. "I have found a new joy in performing, but my main reason for returning to touring is to be able to support some very worthy causes and to give back to the cities that have so warmly welcomed me to Europe."

The highly anticipated tour will now move on to Austria for a show in Vienna on June 21st before travelling to France, Germany, Sweden, Ireland and the UK. The tour will end with three nights at London's O2 Arena.
